The Midlands health and life science ecosystem has the environment, infrastructure and expertise for the development and production of cutting-edge rehabilitation-focused innovations and medical technologies. Utilising these assets, the Midlands acts as a Life Sciences research, development and manufacturing hub for the UK (and, increasingly, the world).
The region is also an internationally recognised cluster for expertise in supportive technologies, such as advanced manufacturing, data science, High Field MRI and other imaging techniques- an area which, through UKRI’s largest ever investment, will soon host the UK’s first 11.7T MRI facility.
We have internationally renowned academic specialisms within facilities such as the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine, and excellent NHS-led activity as seen within the UK’s £70m National Rehabilitation Centre for civilian care housed next to the £300m Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre.
